Just had one of the biggest earthquakes I’ve ever felt in my life. Probably not as big as the one I still remember from 1972. But this was BIG. The blinds on my sliding glass doors are still swinging.
On my way to the USGS to find out just how big, and where it was centered.
In general, I find earthquakes exciting and even somewhat fun. But, ngl, this one was big enough to be a little bit scary, and I hope it was centered very near here, because otherwise it might have been really bad wherever it WAS centered.
ETA: It looks like it was a 6.0 centered in American Canyon (about 35 miles from here). So, not QUITE as big as the 1972 quake (that one was 6.5), but roughly in the same ballpark.
Woke me and the S.O. up and scared our birds into a panic. Was definitely a roller and longer than five seconds. Nothing was damaged and no one was hurt around our area, (some of our deodorants fell off the shelf and into the bathroom sink) but I have heard something about them possibly closing Hwy 37 around Vallejo because of a crack in one of the overpass sections.
This one was a heart pounder, no doubt. Luckily the damages were not too severe all things considered.
